2024-11: Cookapalooza

What better in November than a weekend focused solely on cooking! And more than just that, alternative cooking methods with foods you don’t see as often on campouts. We spent just about the entire day cooking one thing or another, from fresh fried apple fritters, to silver turtle chili dogs, to homemade from scratch bread, it was all delicious!! The scouts capped off the night with songs and jokes around the fire, what a great weekend. Can’t wait to see what recopies scouts come up with on our next campout! 2024-10: Project Chimps

We came, we cleaned, we helped, we learned.. Project Chimps is always a really cool place for a weekend outing. Project Chimps helps care for past research and rescue chimps. While there, we learned a lot about the chimps living there, helped build some new toys for them, and more. What a cool and caring place that we’re happy to help support and care for. 2024 – June: Woodruff Summer Camp

Day 1: Troop 2319 made it to Woodruff in one piece and was right on time for check-ins. Because we had already submitted all of our medical forms we were able to quickly make it to camp orientation. This year we were lucky and got Michael and Cole for orientation. We finished quickly got to our campsite. Setting up camp went smoothly and we were able to enjoy dinner before leaving for the opening campfire ceremony.  Sadly, we never made it to the amphitheater before it started raining so hard that it was canceled. Our troop recovered though and got a good night of sleep before the first day of camp.   Day 2: The first day of Merit badge classes! Today the scouts had their first badge sessions of the week. They got to meet their instructors and make many new friends. After a great filling dinner some scouts went to an Appalachian folkfest and a select group of scouts canoed across Lake woodruff to go hammock camping. Day 3: Today we had perfect weather with a high of 81 degrees Fahrenheit and a low of 49 degrees Fahrenheit. The scouts who went for the canoe overnighter made it to the dining hall just in time for breakfast. After dinner the OA had their ice cream social and there and at the amphitheater there was the spooffinator. Day 4: Today was a beautiful day with a few clouds and a ton of sunshine. It was hot day but everyone was drinking water and staying cool. We are on track to be successful in earning honor patrol and scout tradition. After dinner there was an interfaith service at the chapel and flag retirement at the amphitheater and back at camp Doug made a spectacular fire and followed all the fire safety regulations. Overall we had a great day. Day 5: Today troop 2319 was in cheerful spirits because merit badges are almost done and in few days we’ll be heading home. It looks like we are going to finish honor patrol and scout tradition with the hard work from Devin and his ASPLs. Tonight we have open boating led by our ASM, Avery Shumpert. We are all set for a great last day tomorrow. Day 6: The final day of camp! Today everyone finished up their merit badge classes for a successful week of camp. After lunch Mr. Lair and Will Ballenger participated in the mile swim. Then our troop travelled around camp to compete in the camp wide games. Camp was ended with a closing campfire ceremony and a ton of fun skits. Historian – Will B. Full Photo Album: https://photos.app.goo.gl/LHdsSCiExXKTjwbVA

2024-03-22: Troop Training Campout

Did you miss our March Campout? Here’s a recap! We went up to Bert Adams to enjoy the outdoors. Our scouts had a great time practicing essential scouting skills such as fire building, tool safety, and flag handling and raising. The rain on Friday night was not the best addition to the camp out but our scouts worked together to put up tents under the pavilion and carry them out into the rain. The camp out was a success and our scouts had an amazing time. Will B. Troop Historian Full Photo Album: https://photos.app.goo.gl/VvzdXoeQACo1rRFa9

2024-02: Court of Honor

This past Monday, we had our first Court of Honor of 2024 and boy was it jam packed! In just that last 6 months, our scouts have earned 37 merit badges, completed 33 rank advancements, we have 5 new eagle scouts, 11 other awards, plus 3 Foothills District Good Eggs. Our previous SPL Xan, also passed the leadership torch on to our new SPL Devin and the entire new leadership team was sworn in. Congratulations to all the scouts on all you’ve accomplished and thank you to the entire Troop 2319 Advancement Team, putting together a court of honor takes a lot of work and we really appreciate all you all do. Eagle Project

Eagle Proj: Kenric N.

My eagle project was to build two storage bins for Simpson Middle School. They will be used to store sports equipment and other equipment that the school would like to keep outdoors. There were 15 scouts and 6 adult leaders who were present. It was a cold windy day but every scout braved the weather and put in their best effort. We made 2 teams, each building 1 storage bin to optimize time. Everything went smoothly and fine. we had a small challenge with the slow closing hinge but with the guidance and expertise of the leaders we were able to complete the build. Thanks everyone who came out to help! — Kenric N. Full Photo Album: https://photos.app.goo.gl/ipziRYRmQ6TZTrej7

We kept our tradition alive with our annual lock in at Escalade, and boy what a fun night! Scouts were climbing, racing, playing games, & of course snacking until far later than I think several of our adults had hoped. Escalade is definitely always a highlight for our scouts and I’m sure we’ll be back again next year! Full Photo Album: https://photos.app.goo.gl/m64GFxAXnPDoxvsj8
