Wow, last night was one of our biggest Court of Honors yet! There are currently 137 merit badges that a scout can earn. These merit badges cover outdoor skills, STEM, sports, life skills, and hobbies. In the past 6 months, since our last Court of Honor, the scouts of Troop 2319 have earned 63 of the 137 different merit badges available and we we able to hand out 283 total merit badges and 57 extra awards! Additionally, scouts have clearly been busy working on their rank advancements as we were also able to recognize 70 rank advancements. What an impressive amount of work these scouts were able to achieve in just the last 6 months. Congratulations Charlie A.! Although you passed your Board of Review and officially became an Eagle Scout a couple months ago, it was great that we were able to properly congratulate you at your Eagle Court of Honor this past weekend. You worked hard to complete your trail and have come a long way from the scout you crossed over as. You’ve held multiple leadership positions, worked on numerous Merit Badges and Religious Emblems, and planned and executed an Eagle Project as a final demonstration of your leadership skills. Congratulations again on completing your trail to eagle and thank you for letting Troop 2319 be a part of your journey. Well done! Well the rain may have made us make some adjustments to hold our March COH online instead out in person outdoors, but it still turned out to be a great night! In the past 6 months, despite the ongoing pandemic, the scouts of Troop 2319 earned 20 of the 137 different merit badges available and handed out 39 merit badges at the patch pick the following day. Perhaps even more impressive, over the same period, 13 new ranks were earned and award with many more to come! We’re heading into one of the busiest parts of the scouting year (Spring/Summer) and will surely have much more to award at our next COH, especially considering that 3 scouts have recently completed their Eagle Projects with 2 more scheduled in the coming weeks. We didn’t take a ton of photos (unusual for us), but we do have a few from the patch pickup night. Check them out below. (Click the collage to see the full album)
What an amazing socially distant Court of Honor! Even with limited in person meetings and very few outings or troop activities, Troop 2319 Scouts haven’t stopped continuing their Trail to Eagle. We had 50+ merit badges to hand out, dozens of new rank advancements, and several first year scouts were awarded their upgraded troop neckerchiefs. We also got our new custom JTE Patches and they look amazing! Can’t wait to add the next JTE Rocker for 2020. A special thank you to Joe W. for helping secure and run the sound system to make sure everyone could hear. (Click the collage below to see the full album)
We had a great turn out at our Troop Court of Honor, which was good because the scouts have been working really hard on new Merit Badges and Rank Advancement over the last few months. Even though it has only bee three months since our last Court of Honor in December, scouts completed and were awarded 15 Rank Advancements and 13 Merit Badges! Great job guys, that’s a huge achievement. There were also a few other items awarded. Daphne Huey received her “Good Egg” awarded by the Troop & Rudi Shumpert received his “Good Egg” awarded by the District. Troop 2319 as a whole also was awarded Gold Journey to Excellence 2019, Foothills District Honor Roll “Chicken Pin”, and our Scoutmaster Col. Tom Welch was presented the OA Unit of Excellence Certificate as Troop 2319 was one of only three units in the entire Atlanta Area Council to receive the OA Unit of Excellence in 2019! Congratulations to everyone and keep up the great work! (Click the collage below to see the full album)

What a great Court of Honor with Troop 2319. The scouts have accomplished so much over the past 3 months, it’s truly incredible. We awarded 153 merit badges and 27 ranks. That’s quite a lot for only the past three months! We also had the privileged of awarding Scorpio his first three palms, Nick his fifth palm, and Avery his fourteenth and fifteenth palms! Thank you to all our all our leaders who help keep the troop running and congratulations to all the scouts again. We ended our Court of Honor with the tradition of passing off the Troop flag from our previous SPL to our new one, Jay Wasser. We welcome Jay and are excited for him to start his role as our next SPL.
The Troop held it’s first Eagle Court of Honor today for Robert ‘Scorpio’ Carlin! It’s been a long time coming, congratulations! It was a fantastic ceremony with a great MC. It was great to see so many people there to celebrate the day with Robert, and a special thank you to Rev. Richard Burdick and Unity North for being in attendance and allowing us to have such a special ceremony in the main sanctuary. We had a fantastic turn out at our Troop Court of Honor yesterday, which was great because the scouts have been working really hard on new Merit Badges and Rank Advancement over the last few months. Even though it has only bee three months since our last Court of Honor in December, scouts completed and were awarded 19 Rank Advancements and over 30 Merit Badges! Great job guys, that’s a huge achievement. We also were lucky enough have our Unit Commissioner, Mike Lotz, in attendance who was able to award us with our Gold Journey to Excellence 2018 ribbon for the troop flag. Lastly, we were lucky enough to share in the celebration of Crew 2319 with the induction of their founding members. It’s been a busy couple of months and we’re not slowing down. Scout Challenge is right around and with 30 scout and adults registered from our troop, it is sure to be great camp out. Stay tuned for more updates and click below to see all the pictures from our latest COH.
It’s hard to believe we are already having our second court of honor as a troop. It seems like we just held one and already, scouts have earned enough to warrant holding another one. Great work scouts!! As is our new tradition, Unity allowed us to hold our CoH in their main sanctuary, shout out to Unity for letting us use such an awesome space for this! A lot happened at this CoH besides the usual badges and awards generally given out. We had the pleasure of announcing that even though we have only been in existence for half the year, we were able to achieve a GOLD JTE score, we also borught in and donated a ton of bears for a fundraising that Unity was heading up, and our Unit Commissioner, Mike Lotz, and District Director, Jacquelyn Alford were both in attendance. Thank you to everyone who made this happen! That includes thanks to the district and parents for supporting us and a big thanks to all the scouts who took the leap and helped us form our new unit. Done of this would be possible without all of you!
We had our first Court of Honor Monday, September 10th. It was held in the main sanctuary at Unity North Atlanta and was a fantastic event! There were dozens of ranks earned and over one hundred merit badges. Our District Commissioner, Mike Lotz was in attendance as was our District Director, Jacquelyn Alford. Check our the slideshow below for some of our best pictures or click the link at the bottom to view the album in its entirety. We were also thrilled that Mary Lou Pagano, COO of Safe America, was able to join us to help us celebrate all of the hard work of our scouts! All pictures are also available HERE
